Sitabani is a densely forested area that is part of a Conservation Reserve Forest. It is a popular trekking destination and plays a significant role in the Hindu epic Ramayana.


The story goes that Goddess Sita, the wife of Rama, spent some of her exile days in Sitabani Forest. The entire area is a protected reserve and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). In addition to its diverse wildlife, Sitabani Forest is home to tigers, elephants, deer, sambar deer, pheasants, hedgehogs, and king cobras. It is a true paradise for birdwatchers and also has an ashram where visitors can relax.


The entire forest area is open for safaris year-round, with limit 60 number of vehicles. The Corbett National Park Authority does not issue entry permits, while the Forest Department does issue permits for jeep safaris. Sitabani also has a famous temple of Lord Shiva. Gentle rivers meander through the landscape, offering visitors a chance to relax. Here, they can indulge in their hunting hobby. A scenic drive is recommended to get a closer look at the sights. Because the landscape can be easily viewed on foot, it makes for a memorable adventure.


Sitabani is one of the most popular and busiest areas. Many visitors to the Sitabani Jeep Safari are avid birdwatchers. They have a deep understanding of birds, and the best part is that a wide variety of species can be seen here throughout the season. Tourists may also spot eagles, which have almost disappeared from towns and villages.


Restrictions in the area: Alcohol and non-vegetarian food are prohibited. All personal and non-biodegradable waste, such as metal cans, plastic, bottles, and aluminum foil, must be disposed of in reusable bags after the tour. This helps protect the climate and wildlife in the national park.
