Jhirna is one of the oldest areas of Jim Corbett National Park. Due to its large size, a four-hour safari through the forest in a traditional jeep offers a memorable experience and a chance to spot wild animals. According to park officials, 30 registered jeeps are allowed into the Jhirna area every morning and evening. Reservations can be made online up to 30 days in advance. The Jhirna area of Jim Corbett National Park is home to a large tiger population. The dense forest with grasslands provides excellent hunting grounds, natural water sources, and a seasonal river. The Jhirna area has all the necessary habitat for tigers.

The Jhirna Tiger Reserve is located on the southern edge of the Corbett Tiger Reserve and is accessible from the Dhela entrance. The reserve has a rich vegetation cover, mostly shrubs. The area was used for agriculture until the villages of Dara, Jhirna, and Kothirao were relocated in 1994 as part of the Tiger Project. The area has recovered significantly, a testament to nature's ability to regenerate. Following successful ecological restoration, the area has now become a favorite habitat for wildlife.
